This paper presents the initial results of a collaboration between a fishing valley in Friuli Venezia Giulia (Valle Noghera) and the Department of Humanities at the University of Trieste. The long-term goal of this collaboration is to provide management support to the fishing valleys of the Grado Lagoon, Venice, and the Po Delta. In particular, the possibilities offered by Remote Sensing (RS) allow for the constant monitoring of various parameters specific to these areas. For example, it is possible to monitor water levels, the presence of aquatic vegetation and the damage it suffers due to certain species of birdlife (such as flamingos), as well as water oxygenation. These features are due to RS capacity in identifying areas where anoxia or excessive algae infestation occurs.
