The contribution "The Inversion of the Subject and the Search for Identity" is situated within the broader overcoming of the institutional paradigm of psychiatric care, initiated by the cultural revolution introduced by Franco Basaglia, which restored centrality to the subject as the protagonist of their own process of care. Within this framework, architecture assumes an active therapeutic role, no longer conceived as a mere container, but as a relational, sensory, and social device. The contribution is included in the volume that collects abstracts of contributions presented at the international conference “RIVELAZIONI. Research Tools and Methods for Exploring the Denied and Invisible Spaces of Contemporary Society”, organized in October 2025 by the RiSP (FRA 2022) research group of the Department of Architecture at the University of Naples Federico II.

Abstract
The contribution "The Inversion of the Subject and the Search for Identity" is situated within the broader overcoming of the institutional paradigm of psychiatric care, initiated by the cultural revolution introduced by Franco Basaglia, which restored centrality to the subject as the protagonist of their own process of care. Within this framework, architecture assumes an active therapeutic role, no longer conceived as a mere container, but as a relational, sensory, and social device. The contribution is included in the volume that collects abstracts of contributions presented at the international conference “RIVELAZIONI. Research Tools and Methods for Exploring the Denied and Invisible Spaces of Contemporary Society”, organized in October 2025 by the RiSP (FRA 2022) research group of the Department of Architecture at the University of Naples Federico II.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
