Probe-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE) is a novel real-time optical imaging technique that enables in vivo microscopic visualization of tissue architecture during surgery, providing near-histological resolution at the cellular and microvascular level.3–5 Previous studies in gastrointestinal and oncologic surgery have demonstrated the feasibility of CLE for real-time tissue characterization during minimally invasive procedures.3,4 In the gynecologic oncology setting, our experience suggests that pCLE allows the identification of reproducible architectural and vascular patterns that distinguish normal peritoneal tissue from malignant implants.
