Purpose Based on the theory of planned behavior, this study aims to examine the relationship between individuals’ sustainable attitudes and sustainable innovative work behavior (SIWB) and the impact of specific organizational variables, namely, sustainability strategy, cross-unit collaboration and sustainability teamwork, on such a relationship. Design/methodology/approach A survey was designed and used to collect data from employees and their supervisors, yielding 189 complete responses. To test the hypotheses, regression analysis was used in combination with the PROCESS macro to test moderation and three-way interactions in SPSS. Findings The results support the relationship between sustainable attitude and SIWB and the moderating effect of sustainability strategy, cross-unit collaboration and sustainability teamwork on this relationship. Originality/value This study contributes to the current literature by providing valuable insights into the development of sustainability and innovation and highlighting the interplay between individual and organizational factors.
