Rare Cases Can Provide Too Much Reassurance About Meningitis After the Neonatal Period

Bacterial meningitis is no longer common in Norwegian children, according to a 2026 paper by Lovund et al. in Acta Paediatrica. However, it still poses a major threat, particularly for neonates. The authors' study also underlined the familiar clinical problem that its presentation is often non- specific and a lower incidence may reduce diagnostic suspicion.
