Dinamiche imperiali e aspirazioni nazionali tra Austria e Serbia (1804–1914)

Drawing from the resurgence of Serbian statehood from the Ottoman Empire at the start of the nineteenth century, this article outlines the worsening relationship between Austria–Hungary and Serbia by considering the aspirations of South Slavs and the interweaving of perceptions among their elites. The Bosnian question emerges as central to these rivalries, and its dynamics are traced until the Sarajevo assassination, revealing the friction between imperial strategies and national ambitions up to the outbreak of the First World War.
