This contribution discusses some of the insights of Lizzie Seal's book Women, Murder and Femininity, with particular attention to the implications of gender prejudices and stereotypes in trials against women accused of unusual murders and the role of sexist and discriminatory language in the construction of female killers as deviant personalities.
