This paper presents a study concerning metaphors in discourse on Covid-19. The analysis adopts a contrastive approach and concerns German-speaking and Italian-speaking journalistic communication on this topic from 2020 until 2025. It is based on a similar contrastive study conducted by the author towards the start of the pandemic, which regarded metaphors used in the media during the search for a vaccine against Covid-19. By contrast, the current study concerns the period after the production of a vaccine. The analysis aims to determine whether the same source and target concepts are favoured or whether new metaphors are usually found. Some particularly frequent metaphors in German are then examined in more detail.
