Childhood obesity remains a major global public health concern, contributing to long-term metabolic complications and increasing healthcare burdens. This commentary highlights the importance of establishing a formal diagnosis of childhood overweight and obesity to facilitate early intervention, appropriate clinical management, and long-term monitoring. Despite increasing awareness, underdiagnosis and inadequate documentation continue to hinder effective obesity care. Integrating formal diagnosis with the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) can strengthen individualized nutritional assessment, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation. Furthermore, a multidisciplinary approach involving healthcare professionals, families, and schools is essential for comprehensive obesity management. School-based nutrition education and early preventive interventions may further improve dietary behaviors and health outcomes. Strengthening diagnostic practices, interdisciplinary collaboration, and sustainable nutrition interventions is crucial to improving childhood obesity care and reducing its long-term health consequences.

Abstract
Strengthening diagnostic practices, interdisciplinary collaboration, and sustainable nutrition interventions is crucial to improving childhood obesity care and reducing its long-term health consequences.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
